HOW TO MAKE THE JERKY!

Needed:

3 ½ pounds of meat cut into quarter-inch strips

Jerky seasoning packet

Sealable bag


Day 1:

  1. Place strips into a sealable bag in layers.

Tip: Add some of the seasoning between layers to ensure that the flavoring is distributed.

  1. Add the remaining seasoning once all the meat is in the bag.

  2. Seal the bag and shake it well.

  3. Place in the refrigerator.

Day 2:

  1. Shake the bag again really well.

  2. Turn the bag over.

  3. Place back in the refrigerator.

Day 3:

In the Oven:

  1. Using a jerky rack or oven rack, place seasoned jerky in a single layer on the rack. (Make sure none of the pieces are touching.)

  2. Pour any remaining juices over the jerky strips.

  3. Preheat oven to 200̊

  4. Place in the oven.

  5. Allow to cook for 5 hours.

  6. Halfway through, rotate the racks.

In the Smoker:

  1. Set the heat at 200̊

  2. Hang the strips or use racks the same as oven instructions.

  3. Allow to cook for 5 hours.

In a Dehydrator:

  1. Place jerky strips on the trays of the dehydrator.

  2. Set the heat to between 180̊   to 200̊.

  3. Allow to cook for 9 hours.

  4. Halfway through rotate your trays.

Tips:

You may need to adjust your cooking times depending on the thickness or thinness of your cut.

Add 30 minutes to an hour for crispier jerky to meet your preference.
